🟥 Truck Drivers C+E Curtain Sider - The Netherlands

Location: Close to Hulst, The Netherlands

Profession: Truck Driver C+E

Main responsibility: Groupage transport of general goods. Most of the times pallet transport or steel coils.

Possible trailers: Curtainsider/Tautliner

Trips: Most of the trips are in the Benelux, France, Germany.

Loading/Unloading: Loading and unloading is most of the times the responsibility of the driver. The driver needs to secure the cargo by straps or chains every time, and remove the straps before the unloading is done by the client.

Number of addresses a day : Groupage transport: between 2-9 unloadings or loadings per day

Work schedule: Different systems possible. 4:4/6:3/8:4/12:4 etc.

Working Period: 12 months per year, full year round

Transport to the Netherlands : By own car or plane

Place of departure (start work) : Close to Terneuzen

Transport from housing to work: No housing, the driver sleeps in the truck. Facilities available at the base.

Driving license: C+E

Additional courses: Code95/Driver Qualification and ADR basic

Experience as a truck driver: Min. 12 months of experience with driving C+E with curtain trailer

Knowledge of foreign languages: Good English. Speaking (B1-B2 level)

French or German is a big plus.

Skills: Communicating with dispatch by boardcomputer (Trimble).
Experience with a curtainside trailer is a must.
Experience with securing the cargo by straps and chains is also a must.

Traits: Organised, Motivated, very Communicative.
In the first working periods a new driver will probably have his own truck. Unfortunately we can’t give any certainties about this.

➡️ Salary information

Basic salary: € 17,99 gross/bruto (D3). With good performance it can increase to D6.

Reservations (extra/bonus on top) : 10,82% paid holiday & 8.33% holiday money and 1.52% ADV

Overtime percentagesOvertime percentages: Basic overtime: 130% / Saturday: 150% / Sunday: 200%

Total working hours per week: 55 – 60 (around 10 – 12 hours a day)

Compensations: Subsistence allowance max. €65,04 per day
(compensation for living in the truck while at work)

Weekly salary after costs (on the bank account): €1150 Netto/ week,- average net (depends on the working hours) + reservations (on top is holiday money, paid holiday and ADV)

Weekly costs: Health insurance € 38,50

Payment of salary: Weekly on friday

➡️ Additional Information

For our Dutch client near Hulst, we are looking for truck drivers with experience on curtain side trailers.

The transported goods can be on euro pallets, but many times it will be goods like steel coils. The driver does have to load or unload the pallet, but not the machines or forklift trucks. These will be (un)loaded by the clients.
Besides that, the driver needs to secure the cargo with straps and/or chains and remove them before unloading.

The number of unload addresses is usually between 2 and 9 addresses per day when you're going to France or Germany.

Most of the time you sleep outside of the base during the week. Sometimes you do come back to the base during the week.
Communication with the dispatchers goes via the Trimble onboard computer.
The trucks are modern, equipped with automatic gearboxes and all are in good condition.

When the driver does not return to the base, there is full compensation for sleeping in the truck for every worked day.
It should also be mentioned that the 45-hour weekly rest may also be taken outside the base.
This company is very strict regarding driving time regulations. It is not allowed to exceed your driving time (unless previously discussed with the company).
Drivers must bring their own safety shoes. All other necessary equipment is available in the truck.
It is not allowed to wear tracksuit pants. Jeans or work trousers are permitted. During the summer, short jeans or work shorts are also allowed.

The company plans to improve the base by adding a washing machine and dryer, but these are not available yet.
For the time being, there is a nearby gas station where drivers can wash their clothes until the company installs the washing machine and dryer.
