Profession Truck Driver C+E
Main responsibility Transporting and securing all kind of combined goods (machines, pallets, forklift trucks etc.)
Possible trailers: (MEGA) Curtainsider/Tautliner
Trips Most of the trips are from the Netherlands to Italy. Sometimes NL, FR or CH
Loading/Unloading: Loading and unloading is most of the times the responsibility of the driver.
The driver needs to secure the cargo by straps or chains every time, and remove the straps before the unloading is done by the client. Volume of the (mega) trailers has to be used to it`s maximum drivers responsibility. (Un)Loading can be done from above also with the help of a crane.
Number of addresses a day Groupage transport: 1-10 unloadings and 1-10 loadings back. Once a week to Italy and back to the Netherlands.
Work schedule Different systems possible. 4:4/6:3/8:4/12:4 etc.
Working Period 12 months per year, full year round
Transport to the Netherlands By own car or plane
Place of departure (start work) Close to Nijmegen
Transport from housing to work No housing, the driver sleeps in the truck. Facilities available at the base.
Requirements
Driving license: C+E
Additional courses Code95/Driver Qualification and preferable is an ADR basic
Experience as a truck driver Min. 12 months of experience with driving C+E with curtain trailer
Knowledge of foreign languages Min. B2 English. Speaking Italian is beneficial.
Skills Communicating with dispatch by boardcomputer.
Experience with a (mega) curtainside trailer is a must.
Experience with securing the cargo by straps and chains is also a must.
Traits Well Organised, Motivated, very Communicative. In the first working periods a new driver will probably have his own truck. Unfortunately we can’t give any certainties about this.
Salary information
Basic salary - € 14,59
Reservations (extra) +10,82% paid holiday & +8,33% holiday money (5 weeks/year of paid holiday)
Overtime percentages Basic overtime: 130% / Saturday: 150% / Sunday: 200%
Total working hours per week ~ 55 (between 10 – 12 hours a day – working, not only driving)
Compensations Subsistence allowance € 55 net/24 hours away from the base
In total:
€ 950,- average net (depends on the working hours) + reservations ( on top
is holiday money, paid holiday and ADV) = € 4.000,- / month
Additional Information
For our Dutch client near Nijmegen we are looking for truck drivers with experience on (mega) curtain side trailers.
The transported goods can be on euro pallets, but many times it will be all kind of combined goods like air pressure machines, forklift trucks and all kind of other equipment. The driver does have to load or unload the pallet, but not
the machines or forklift trucks. These will be (un)loaded by the clients. Besides that, the driver needs to secure the cargo with straps and/or chains and remove them before unloading.
Number of unload addresses is usually between 1 and 10 addresses when you’re going to Italy. Same number of loading (for the way back) addresses to the Netherlands. Usually you will be driving on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday you’ll visit between 1 and 10 clients for unloading. Thursday and Friday you’re driving back (loaded again) to the Netherlands. In some occasions the driver goes to France, Switzerland or he stays in the Netherlands, but most trips are between Holland and Italy. The driver comes back regularly to the base in Nijmegen, where facilities are available (WIFI, own locker, washing machines, toilettes and showers). Also a private car can be parked on the (closed) base.
There is even a small car from the transport company available at the base, that can be used to do some shopping in the area.
The communication with the dispatches goes by board computer, but the board computer has to be used also to register worked hours and all activities during the day.
The trucks are modern with automatic gearboxes (90% of the trucks are Scania’s equipped with fridge, magnetron, coffee machine and so on). Trailers are in different conditions. They are from medium to very good condition. The transport company has it`s own repair shop to repair the trailers in case there is any damage.
When the driver doesn’t come back to the base, there will be full compensation for sleeping in the truck every worked day. It has to be mentioned that also the 45h rest can be made outside the base.
At the end of the year the driver can choose whether we wants to be free during Christmas or New Year period.
But during one of those two periods, he needs to be available for work.
It`s also important to mention that the driver is responsible to use the volumetric space of the trailer to it`s maximum. So some technical imagination about combining goods, while maintaining safety rules is very important.
And last but not least: PATIENCE is the keyword if you want to survive in Italy. Without patience, the driver will have a very hard time doing transport in Italy.
